Welcome to the Active Play, Every Day Podcast
Our kids are moving less than ever before. That matters. It matters for their bodies, their brains, their mental health, and their confidence.
If you believe movement matters, but daily life, packed schedules, screen negotiations, weather, homework, and tired evenings often make it feel complicated, the Active Play, Every Day podcast is for you.
Active Play, Every Day is more than a podcast. It is a movement to reclaim active, joyful play in childhood. Play isn’t extra. It is essential.
Hosted by Dr. Emily Greenwald, a double-boarded pediatrician, mom of three, and childhood wellness advocate, this bi-weekly podcast explores how daily movement shapes kids’ physical health, brain development, emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience. Most importantly, it offers families a realistic path to 60 minutes of active play every day, without guilt, pressure, or impossible standards.
Why This Podcast Exists
Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have to support children’s physical health, mental health, learning, and behavior. Yet only about 25 percent of children in the United States get the recommended 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity each day.
For many families, making active play feel possible and sustainable has become harder than ever.
Organized sports are not always accessible. Outdoor play is not always realistic. Sedentary screen time increasingly replaces the everyday movement kids once built naturally into their days.
This podcast exists to help reimagine what active play every day can look like in modern family life. At home and at school. In classrooms and living rooms. Across the communities where kids grow, learn, and play.
